“My continued goal as the incumbent BART Director is to provide BART riders with the highest level of safety, security, accessibility, accountability, transparency, environmentally friendly and an affordable - efficient public transportation system.”

- Dr. Carole Ward Allen, Incumbent BART Director, District 4

As an elected BART Director for the past eleven years, I have had the great pleasure and honor of representing Oakland and Alameda residents in District 4. I am currently running for re-election to the BART Board of Directors in the upcoming November 2, 2010 election. I believe during my tenure I have made unprecedented changes that are critically needed to maintain and enhance our transportation system. I have worked with the BART Board members to change systematic functions and operations including formulating the first BART Police Review and Police Oversight Committees, providing better station lighting and working with the local unions to facilitate  BART’s first Project Labor Agreement (PLA) to provide local job training and employment for local residents. I am not through yet. There is more work to be done.

It is imperative that BART provides better public safety, employment opportunities, and cost-effective fares, as well as transparent governmental relationships with the community and most of all clean and eco-friendly stations and trains. As the incumbent director, I will continue to advocate and ensure that these serious issues are addressed.

Furthermore, in the midst of BART’s most challenging times, District 4 residents needs strong, experienced, and dedicated leadership (a Director who has been tested and can deliver) to address these issues in an effective, and efficient manner. Therefore, I have formulated a Campaign Advisory Committee to launch my campaign to be re-elected as your District 4 BART Director. My in-depth knowledge of BART issues is invaluable at this time to move swiftly with the fundamental changes that are needed.

We must work together to bring about effective change. I value your input. Listening to your ideas is key, and the catalyst to having the best possible public transit system in the country.

Please consider signing up as a donor and/or supporter to in this campaign. In addition, please provide any of your ideas by clicking on the “contact” button.  I want to hear from you. Tell me what are your concerns? How can we make BART better?

Thank you very much for your time and effort.

Committed and Dedicated,

Carole Ward Allen
